TESTIMONY OF JONATHAN DAVID MITCHELL

Here you have the full interview:

HELLO JONATHAN, WHY DO YOU KNOW BLANSAT?

I am Jonathan Mitchell, I live in France and I had an apartment in Pilar de la Horadada that my mother used, my mother lived in that apartment.

We contacted Blansat when we needed to sell the apartment as my mother was moving back to the UK.

HOW DID YOU MEET BLANSAT?

Blansat is in the High Street in Pilar de la Horadada and with my mother having lived in Pilar for 10 or 12 years, she would pass the agency many many times and so when she needed to sell her apartment she thought it was a natural choice to come in and talk to Blansat to see what they could do to help.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST IMPRESSION?

I was here with my mother when Antonio from Blansat first came round to look at the apartment and to give us some advice.

Very friendly, very professional, very opened and very honest.

WAS IT DIFFICULT TO SET THE SALE PRICE OF YOUR PROPERTY?

For the price of the house we had an idea of what we thought we would want, but it was difficult because we need to understand the local market, and prices have gone down since we bought it 15 years ago. So, Antonio was able to advice us as to finding a price which was a good pitch between the kind of price we wanted and the price to more attract buyers to come and have a look at the apartment.

WAS IT DIFFICULT TO SELL THE PROPERTY?

It has taken us about 6 or 7 months to sell the property. Blansat had a number of different people coming round to see the property.

Numerous exchanges with Antonio to talk about wether we needed to reduce the price to allow us to be more attractive and then I am delighted to say that after 7 months we were able to sell the property which I think, in Spain, it is probably very good and not something that you would consider difficult.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO SELL THEIR PROPERTIES?

I think the best thing to do when you are selling a house is to make your house look neat and tidy and as neutral as possible. I have done this with houses in France and it has worked very well.
We didn’t have time to do it at first in the apartment in Pilar de la Horadada, but after 3 or 4 months, Antonio recommended this to me and I fully supported that. So we had a painter and decorator coming, filling the holes for the picture holes, repainted the walls, make it look nice and clean and neutral. So the buyer who is coming in to look at the apartment is seeing the apartment how it can be for them and not seeing the apartment how it was for you.

HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH BLANSAT?

I have been very very happy with how Blansat have handled the whole of the sale. They were very good with my mother before she left for the UK.

With me living in France and being abroad Antonio was in contact on a regular basis by whatsap; nothing was too much of a problem; we were able to make decisions very quickly together and overall I think he has been excellent.

IN CONCLUSION…

Selling a house when you live abroad or selling an apartment when you live abroad is difficult. You need to be able to get a good advice, you need to know that your agent is working honestly for you and I think I couldn’t recommend Antonio, Blansat, more than I can. I think that we had a fantastic experience with him and I am just really delighted that we have been able to sell in a relatively short space of time.
